… in California, that is. DARPA are running a two day robotics challenge for guided and autonomous robots. Competing robots will be required to carry out a series of tasks that were inspired by the things that people had to do when the nuclear accident at the Fukushima reactor in Japan happened a few years ago. Some tasks will be done by the robots under human control and others they’ll have to carry out by themselves. There’s even a surprise task that the competing teams won’t have seen before the challenge. Quite a few of the competitors will be using the Atlas robot designed by Boston Dynamics, which is now part of Google. It is all being streamed live, starting at 3pm UK time tomorrow. The BBC website has lots more information.
